Going Gourmet catered for my wife’s and I joint 60th birthday celebration 2 weeks ago. We contacted them last June, approximately 8 months before our event. This was done so in order to secure a good catering partner, iron out details and ensure smooth sailing on our special day. Our feedback relates to the organisation on the day and communication after our celebration. Going Gourmet arrived late to our event (guest arrival time 5.30pm) even though we had booked a dinner to be served at 6.30pm and a grazing table to be set up for our guests arrival. The owner, Glenn, was difficult to get a hold of on the day and anxiety set in when he finally answered after 5 attempts to contact him that the caterers were due to arrive at the same time as our guests. As the caterers had to promptly get the grazing table set up coming out 1 hour late, dinner was pushed back and didn’t get served til 8pm which was 1.5 hours past the agreed upon time in our pre-event documents. It was sad to see the measly grazing table put out that could not have served our 36 guests comfortably. We emailed Going Gourmet after our event to raise our concerns and find an amicable resolution but most importantly, an apology. What ensued was a bewildering email exchange that floored us with their responses. Glenn tried to deflect all the issues, put the onus onto us for not being cooperative and making last minute changes to the event even though none of the updates would be considered event-altering by any person with common sense. Any event-altering changes would be met with an updated price or new invoice yet there was no mention of it. Glenn constantly tried to pull the wool over our eyes by bringing up irrelevant points such as ‘my children don’t even eat at 5.30pm’ which were just plainly rude and condescending. His attempts at trying to absolve accountability of his company for their roles and responsibilities which they were hired for reflected poorly on his character. Glenn continued with his cheap remarks about the ‘food industry suffering huge price increases daily’, as if we were responsible for them or inflation was to blame for his poor service. He followed this by offering 12 bottles of wine as a ‘gesture of good will’ in an apparent attempt to shut us up. It was unfathomable that an owner of a service based business could make such comments to his customers in the hope of alleviating the stress and headache caused. The lack of professionalism completely dismayed us and could be considered nothing short of embarrassing and shameful. It was clear to see that the employees were victim to circumstance as they were well-mannered on the day and prepared lovely food for our guests.

OUTSTANDING - is the first word that comes to mind when I think of the level of service, attention to detail, quality of food and organisational effort from the Going Gourmet team. My engagement party was two events on the same day, catering for family and close friends of my parents in the afternoon, to my fiancé and I dearest friends in the evening. The team cleared and set up the two events seamlessly one after the other. I had multiple guests days after my event asking me "who did your catering?". The food was simply suburb. everything was hand made, fresh and delicate. The desert table was outstanding, with the extra flair of golden popcorn that didn't go unnoticed. My fiancé nephews were too small to reach the height of the tables, yet Going Gourmet staff helped serve them food, and make sure they kids were fed. Equally the cleared plates, glassware, cleaned up - so that there was minimal mess. The team was at my house for 10 hours - and through that entire duration they kept a smile on their faces, completely accommodating and didn't falter at all. Their stamina was UNBELIEVABLE. We had multiple dietary requirements, nuts allergy celiac, kosher-style - and they met it all without a hitch. Do yourself a favour and book them in for your next event. Also Glen was easy to work with - captured our brief, and answered any concern we had not matter what time of day. Cannot thank the team enough for making our day so FANTASTIC!!

Going Gourmet catered for our daughters wedding, with over 100 guests this was no small task and they excelled at making the night a success. They are very professional, everything was served on schedule and the quality of the food was first rate. The staff are so dedicated that even when it started to rain i saw one of the staff members serving hot food while holding a serving platter in one hand and an umbrella and napkins in the other. I forgot to mention they left the house as clean as when they arrived, all up we would not hesitate to recommend Going Gourmet to anyone who needs event catering.

Martha and I got married in October 2022. We had organised our catering with Going Gourmet. From the get go the service was professional and timely, we even got invited out for a tasting session at Baxter Barn (even though I knew I already wanted the slow cooked brisket). The wedding service was excellent, completely stress free. The food was mouth watering and the brisket was even better the second time around. All our guests said they loved it and I'm pretty sure everyone needed to loosen a few notches on their belts. It was a perfect service and I would highly recommend to anyone reading this who are unsure still.

We booked Going Gourmet for our wedding catering in February, 2023. Firstly, the food provided was lovely and well presented. My feedback comes in relation to the management on the day and communication after our wedding. Going Gourmet arrived 1.5 hours late to our wedding venue – they arrived at the time that canapes were meant to be served. The head chef called my husband on the day of his wedding approximately 15 min before the ceremony saying that he is stuck in traffic and will not arrive for another hour – the chef had no sense of urgency when speaking to my partner and provided no reason behind his lateness. Our wedding was located just outside of Ballarat, the catering company was travelling from Melbourne - that duration that they were late was equal to the entire drive of Melbourne - Lexton. The one-and-a-half-hour late arrival was not only unprofessional but more importantly caused a delay in our food coming out which in turn also put pressure on our wait staff which we had to pay a significant amount more in additional hours for having to stay back due to everything being pushed out. We emailed Going Gourmet after our wedding to explain our frustration and try and understand why this happened. They replied 1.5 weeks later stating that our venue was too far away and their staff did not wish to travel the distance. They also stated that they were not happy that our staff told them to ‘get moving’ when they arrived. In light of these statements, I would recommend not taking on regional jobs in the first place if you are unable to service them and I would also suggest having some resilience if suppliers tell you to hurry up after being 1.5 hours late to a wedding which put pressure on all of our other suppliers. The email response from Going Gourmet was unapologetic and unprofessional. We have not since received a reply back from our last email asking to arrange a call with Glenn, the owner. In light of these issues, it is difficult to recommend Going Gourmet catering company to others. While it is possible that they may have provided a great service on other occasions, their failure to take responsibility for their mistakes and the resulting delay was very disappointing. Overall, it is important for businesses to be accountable and take responsibility for their actions. In this case, it is unfortunate that Going Gourmet has fallen short in this regard.

We first used Going Gourmet in September 2018, for a sit down, 3 course meal for 40 people to celebrate my fathers 80th. It was perfect. Great service and great food. On Feb 29th I had the good fortune to use Going Gourmet again for a surprise party at my place for a dear friend. Vincent(Chef) & Ash(wait staff) were wonderful, working so well together - the food was delicious and Ash made sure everyone was well catered for. Thank you so much Glenn and all your team - you stand out from the rest. I definitely recommend and will use you again. Keep up your high standards

Going Gourmet staff are fantastic, professional and dedicated to making our event a success. We celebrated a 50th birthday party, and a big thank you to Chef Owen, Nic and Katie who were just organised, and cooked everything to perfection. The serving of food by Katie was amazing and very friendly commented by all the guests. Nothing was left undone, food was cooked in a timely manner, fresh and ample of servings. Even though the winter weather prevailed, our catering team delivered exceptional service with smiling faces all night. Thank you again, and definately will use Going Gourmet for all our catering, for our next events. Phyllis Edwards

I just wanted to thank you and your team for making our Staff Christmas Party and great success. From the first contact I had with you guys I was very comfortable and the whole process was very easy, there was no pressure. Going Gourmet as a company is very easy to deal with and a great operation. Our Chef and Waitress where great, very friendly and only too pleased to attend to any of our needs, working together with us to make sure we were happy with the time the food was bought out. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful and very attentive. They looked after us so well. At the end of the night you wouldn’t even know they had been there, the kitchen was spotless. Everyone commented on how good they were and how nice the food was. I have no hesitation in recommending Going Gourmet as caterer’s or using them again if the occasion arises. It was so nice as the hostess not to have to do any of the work. I could actually mingle with our guests. Thank you all once again for a great job.

We used Glenn and his crew for our sons wedding at Brogans Way. The catering was excellent, the staff were the best, and the food was superb. When guests send you messages the next day saying the food was excellent... you can't ask for a better review. Thanks Glenn, and Renee, a gem of a host. Highly recommend this crew.
